Independent and Supported Living Services

The Independent and Supported Living Programs provide individualized assistance to people who live in their own homes. Clausen House helps clients maintain their safety, financial security, and emotional stability while living on their own. Independent Living Services (ILS) provides instruction in functional skills taught in everyday environments. Clients are assisted with locating housing, cooking and nutrition, money management, safety awareness, health and medication management, self-advocacy, and social skills. Supported Living Services (SLS) provides a higher level of support with self-care activities and health. This may include assistance in recruiting and supervising personal care attendants and locating other natural supports. Learn more »

Residential Program

In our three group homes located in the Adams Point residential neighborhood near Lake Merritt, Clausen House emphasizes a home-like environment and community integration. Our Residential Program helps clients develop self-sufficiency in daily activities including personal hygiene, health and safety, banking and money management, social and interpersonal skills, chores and errands, and effective use of leisure time. Recreational activities such as bowling, movies, yoga, sporting events, and dances are offered each week. Learn more »

Supported Employment

The Supported Employment program assists people who require ongoing support in choosing, obtaining, and retaining paid employment in integrated settings. Clausen House offers two options: One is in a paid group in which a job coach assists trainees to develop appropriate work habits and skills and interfaces with the employer to enhance success. The other is an individual job placement for those who have demonstrated the ability and desire to work in a less supervised position. Learn more »
