EAST MEETS WEST: A Splendid Success!

dancers

Vivid colors and smiling faces were on display the entire evening at East Meets West, a benefit for Clausen House held on October 23, 2010. Several people remarked it was the most exciting and enjoyable fundraiser they had attended in years. Our heartfelt thanks to our generous event sponsors, the event guests and Fund-A-Need donors, our Secret Samurai, and many additional supporters who made donations in lieu of attendance.

Special thanks to the Heiwa Taiko drummers, Eric Kupers/Dandelion Dancetheater, and Clausen House's participants in the Dance for All Bodies and Abilities program at CSU East Bay for their wonderful, inspired performance!

Thanks to the efforts of so many loyal friends, the event netted about $112,000 for Clausen House — a substantial showing, yet not nearly enough to cover our annual "funding gap" of over $3,000 in unreimbursed costs for each of Clausen House's 180 participants. If you did not take part in East Meets West, why not help Clausen House continue to meet the needs of people with developmental disabilities by mailing your tax-deductible gift or visiting our secure Donation page today.

The Fall 2010 Clausen House Art Show was a great success! Special thanks to Rob Moreno and Andrew McKleroy of the band SARAVAZAMBA for providing live music. If you missed it, sign up for our email list (at left) and we'll let you know about the next Art Show in Spring 2011. We want to thank everyone who attended, and special thanks as well to our generous in-kind donors:  Merritt Station Cafe, Arizmendi/Lakeshore, Trader Joe's/Lakeshore, and Whole Foods/Bay Street Oakland.

During these lean economic times, your philanthropic spirit is truly stunning! On behalf of the 180 men and women of Clausen House, thank you for your generosity.
